Looking for a warm, welcoming venue in the heart of Swaledale? The Low Row & Feetham Literary Institute is available to hire for community events, private functions, business meetings, creative workshops, and more. The main hall is a spacious and light-filled room, perfect for group events, exercise classes, talks, parties, or exhibitions. – Seats up to 120 – Tables and chairs available – Access to kitchen and toilets – Tea/coffee-making facilities – Cooking facilities with hob and oven - Wifi available throughout the hall
Cancellation Policy
By hiring the Institute, you agree to these terms. A full version is available on request. 1. Responsibility The Hirer (18+) is responsible for the safety, supervision, cleanliness, and behaviour of all attendees. Parking guidance should be provided. Any damage or cleaning costs will be charged. 2. Use of Premises No unlawful activity permitted (e.g. drug use, unlicensed alcohol). No sub-hiring. Maximum occupancy is 94. Emergency exits must remain clear. The Institute reserves the right to cancel hire, with or without refund, if terms are breached. 3. Insurance & Liability Hirers are liable for damage, loss, injury, and cleaning costs. Public liability insurance is recommended. Lost keys incur a £10 fee. 4. Gambling Permitted only under relevant laws. 5. Licensing Events involving alcohol, film, music, or performance must comply with legal licensing requirements. Proof of licences may be requested. 6. Copyright & Content Hirers must hold appropriate PRS/PPL licences and ensure content is lawful and non-political. 7. Safeguarding Events involving children must meet safeguarding laws. DBS-checked adults must be present. Policies must be provided on request. 8. Health & Safety Fire exits, extinguishers, and emergency procedures must be observed. Accidents and equipment faults must be reported immediately. 9. Noise Keep noise to a minimum, especially after 10pm. Doors and windows must be closed. 10. Alcohol & Drugs Drunken or disorderly behaviour is not permitted. Illegal substances are prohibited. 11. Food & Kitchen Use Food hygiene rules apply. Waste must be removed. Under-16s are not allowed in the kitchen. 12. Electrical Safety Appliances must be safe and certified. No modifications allowed. 13. Stored Items The Institute is not responsible for stored items. Uncollected items may be disposed of after 7 days. 14. Smoking Smoking/vaping is prohibited indoors. 15. Flammable Materials No candles, fireworks, or combustible decorations without written consent. 16. Heating Only fixed heating may be used. Portable LPG appliances are not allowed. 17. Animals Only guide dogs are permitted without prior approval. No animals in the kitchen. 18. Advertising & Sales No fly-posting. Sales must follow trading laws. 19. Cancellations 28 days’ notice = 50% refund. <28 days = no refund. The Committee may cancel for operational reasons. 20. End of Hire The building must be left clean, secure, and in original condition. Late exit may incur fees.
